About the Greater Binghamton Area

Greater Binghamton…a great place to live and work.

The Greater Binghamton (Broome County) area is strategically located at the crossroads of Interstates 81, 88 and 86 (NYS Rt. 17), and consists of Binghamton, Johnson City, Endicott, Endwell and Vestal.  These core communities are surrounded by suburban and rural communities that add to the variety of options for comfortable living and exceptional business opportunities.

Additionally, the Greater Binghamton area is only a few short hours drive to New York City, Buffalo, Boston, Scenic ViewPhiladelphia and many Canadian destinations. Within an hour drive is the largest of the Finger Lakes, Cayuga Lake, and the summer playground for many area residents.

Located a few miles down the road is the Lockheed Martin Corporation, home of the Presidential helicopter. In addition to Lockheed Martin, there are numerous other large and small companies throughout the valley, as well as the premier New York State public university, Binghamton University.

In addition to its strategic northeastern location, the Greater Binghamton area also has the advantages of an educated, stable and productive work force, low housing costs, and an excellent quality of life.

For many years, the Greater Binghamton area has also been the uncelebrated center to much of the world’s technology with many of history’s great inventions and companies beginning here.

Greater Binghamton is the birthplace of I.B.M., Link Flight Simulation, Universal Instruments, Endicott-Johnson Shoes and Dick’s Sporting Goods, to name a few. The area is also home to sporting franchises that include the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Affiliate: NY Mets baseball team) and the Binghamton Devils (Affiliate: Ottawa Senators Hockey Team). The Binghamton area (Endicott, NY) is also the birthplace of the BC Comic and its creator, Johnny Hart.

Greater Binghamton is a great place to live and work and is also the home of the SPIEDIE FEST and Balloon Rally. Come and join our community.
